Це твердження вірно і для процесу вивчення іноземних мов, оскільки тільки отримання нових знань та їх послідовна відпрацювання формують базу мовленнєвих навичок. Так що зараз пропонуємо забути про лінь і старанно попрацювати, виконуючи на різницю в Past Simple та Past Continuous вправи. Ці аспекти широко уживані, і розбиратися в їх граматиці потрібно досить добре, щоб не червоніти перед іноземним співрозмовником за свої грубі мовні помилки. Коротка теорія Past Simple та Past Continuous
Почнемо з невеликого повтору основних граматичних моментів. Якщо ви вважаєте, що ваших знань з теорії достатньо, то можете відразу переходити до розділу нижче і виконувати вправи на Past Simple та Past Continuous обраної складності. Якщо ж ви в своїх знаннях не впевнені на 100%, то закликаємо ще раз повторити правила на аспекти Паст Континиус (Past Continuous) і Паст Сімпл (Past Simple), щоб вправи потім клацати як горішки. Отже, приступаємо!
Простий минулий
Цей аспект часу використовується для вираження давно минулих одиничних або послідовних дій, минулих звичок, одночасно відбувалися подій. При цьому зауважимо, що час здійснення дії зазначається узагальнено, приблизно. Наприклад, у реченнях онлайн вправах на Past Simple зустрічаються наступні покажчики часу:
- yesterday (вчора);
- last year, month, week (в минулому році, місяці, тижні);
- a few days ago (кілька днів тому);
- the other day (днями).
Цей момент можна використовувати як невелику підказку. Якщо бачите використання одного з наведених слів, то сміливо ставте присудок вправи у форму Паст Симпл, а не Past Continuous.
До речі про граматику сказуемых. Для аспекти Past Simple у стверджувальних реченнях використовується друга дієслівна форма. У правильних англійських дієслів це формат «інфінітив + ed», а написання неправильних потрібно пам’ятати напам’ять.
- We played cards. — Ми грали в карти.
- He wrote a letter yesterday. — Він писав листа вчора.
Зовсім інші правила діють для створення питань та заперечень Паст Симпл. Тут вступає в гру допоміжний дієслово did, з-за чого форма основного дієслова змінюється на стандартний інфінітив.
- Did you play cards? — Ви грали в карти?
- He didn’t write a letter yesterday. — Він не писав ніякого листа вчора.
Ось і все по граматиці Past Simple. Для закріплення ще раз виділимо основні риси аспекти:
- Дії в минулому;
- Час неточне;
- Для стверджувальних речень, використовується друга форма дієслова;
- Запитання та заперечення створюють з did, смисловий дієслово в цьому випадку варто в инфинитиве.
Отже, за Паст Сімпл правила повторили і запам’ятали, тепер переходимо до міні-розбору аспекти Паст Континиус.
Минув триває
Англійське слово Continuous вказує на процес, тривалість події. Тому зробити вибір між Past Simple or Past Continuous на користь останнього слід в тих випадках, коли ми робимо акцент саме на процесі виконання дії, а не на факті події, як такому. При цьому часто в пропозиції вказується точний час виконання або проміжок часу, протягом якого тривало дана дія. Наприклад, аспекту Паст Континиус супроводжують такі покажчики часу, як:
- at … o’clock (у такий-то годину);
- all day (весь день);
- from…to…(з…по…);
- this morning/evening at… (вранці/ввечері…);
- while (в той час, як);
- constantly (постійно).
Ось ще одна підказка, з якої можна зрозуміти, що висловлювання будується в Past Continuous.
І до речі про граматику пропозицій. Стверджувальні, питальні й негативні висловлювання на Паст Континиус утворюються граматичної формулою «to be + ing-дієслово». Причому to be представлено у двох формах минулого: was (для підлягає 3 л. од. ч. і I) або were (для інших випадків).
- I was listening to the album all day. — Я слухав цей альбом весь день.
- We were watching TV at that moment. — Ми дивилися в цей момент телевізор.
Щоб надати висловлюванню негативний відтінок, досить просто додати до to be частку not.
- I was not listening to the album all day. — Я не слухав цей альбом цілий день.
А для створення запитальної інтонації необхідно перемістити форму to be в початок пропозиції.
- Were you watching TV at that moment? — Ви дивилися телевізор в цей момент?
